The Mental Health Pandemic
Psychiatric medications are being prescribed more than ever, suicide rates are skyrocketing, and mental disability is at an all time high.
If medications are the cure, why aren’t we getting better?

“Doctors are men who prescribe medicines of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, in human beings of whom they know nothing.” - Voltaire
Medications will never correct the underlying issues...
Medicine has been hijacked by big pharma.
The pharmaceutical industry has profited from the myth that “mental illnesses” are caused by “chemical imbalances” and the “treatment” is to take a pill forever. Even though this has been disproven, psychiatrists continue to “manage medications,” while mental disease only increases.
The human body is capable of fantastical healing.
Symptoms like depression and anxiety are signs that something in the body is out of balance. Mental dis-ease is an indicator of underlying issues like unresolved trauma, hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, environmental toxins and lack of meaningful relationships.
Would you rather be healing or drug dealing?
You were born to be a healer. But now you’re using psychiatric medications to “treat” patients who suffer horrible side effects and rarely get much better. You know there must be a better way, but you didn’t learn it in medical school or residency.
Become the healer you were born to be…

Frequently Asked Questions
What is holistic psychiatry?
Holistic psychiatry is an approach to healing mental disease, which takes into account every layer of a human - including body, mind and soul. This approach involves discovering root causes and avoiding or minimizing the use of medications.
How many hours per week is the fellowship?
As our program is completely self-paced, it’s completely up to you to decide how much time you spend on the program. However, we recommend that you dedicate between 3-15 hours per week (this does not include karmic donation hours).
How long does it take to complete the fellowship?
You can take as little or as long as you need to complete the fellowship. However, we recommend that you consider one of our suggested tracks: One Year Fast Track - 10-15 hours per week (one module per week) Two Year Steady Track – 3-5 hours per week (one module every two weeks)
What are karmic donations?
Karmic donations involve using your natural gifts and skills that you learn in the fellowship to support the Free Range mission. Examples include: teaching a class or workshop, leading a group meditation, obtaining grants, fundraising, writing a blog post, and supervising/mentoring a volunteer or medical student.
How long do I give karmic donations?
We ask that you continue to give karmic donations until graduation.
Am I required to pass an exam to complete the fellowship?
There are no exams in this fellowship. To graduate, you must complete all of the rotations, modules and assignments. This includes journal assignments for each module, which are self-reflection style questions. You are also expected to practice all of the things that you are learning, such as kundalini yoga, meditation and mindfulness. You will be using the skills and knowledge that you gain from the fellowship to create your karmic donations.
Can fellows also apply for employment at Free Range Psychiatry?
Yes, we ask that all clinical employees complete the Free Range Fellowship. However, you do not need to be an employee to join the fellowship.
Do I have to be a psychiatrist to join the fellowship?
While we have designed the fellowship specifically for psychiatrists, we welcome all types of healers into the program. We also accept healers in training such as medical students and residents. Other types of healers include nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nutritionists.
Are there any pre-requisites for the fellowship?
The fellowship was designed with psychiatrists in mind, but you are not required to have this training. We ask that you have a bachelor’s degree at minimum and additional training is helpful. It is important to understand that if you are not a psychiatrist, there may be topics that you will need to research and learn about on your own. We can provide some guidance on this, but ultimately it is up to the fellow to seek any additional learning opportunities in order to comprehend the material. The most important criteria for admission is that you believe in our mission and have a desire to implement holistic psychiatry in some way.
Is this an ACGME approved fellowship?
No. Also, there are no ACGME fellowships in holistic, integrative or functional psychiatry at this time. We are the only fellowship that we are aware of that covers both integrative and functional psychiatry.
