“What day is it?” asked Pooh.
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

I have had folks ask me what a holistic psychiatrist actually does every day. So, I’m going to give you a peak into my daily life. Yesterday I took notes on my day, and below is an example of an average day in the life of this holistic psychiatrist:

4:00 AM: Woke up, finished reading the book “Invincible Living” by Guru Jagat

5:00 AM: Ran 3.5 miles outside along a creek (watched the sunrise, saw ducks and a blue heron, meditated)

5:30 AM: Sent voices messages to employees and friends

“When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.”
― Ayurvedic Proverb

6:00 AM: Ate breakfast with the fam (mushrooms, onions and zucchini with turmeric tofu topped with fresh tomatoes from our garden and an almond milk matcha latte)

7:00 AM: Administrative work in my home office (looking for photos of superheroes, emails, blogging, working on a job posting)

8:00 AM: Kundalini yoga (focused on my third eye and crown chakras, turned on the purple lights on my wall and the purple light on my aromatherapy diffuser with lavender)

“All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.”

― Friedrich Nietzsche

9:00 AM: Walked around my neighborhood with my hubby, infant, toddler and two dogs

9:30 AM: More administrative work in my home office (watching a virtual conference on environmental toxins)

10:00 AM: Saw a patient via telepsychiatry (a portion of her session she was in her bathroom and then in her car)

11:00 AM: More administrative work in my kitchen (finding images of superheroes and photoshopping employees’ heads on them)

12:00 PM: Made and ate lunch (pasta with tomato-veggie sauce made from our garden, fed my infant and toddler)

12:30 PM: Back to work in my home office (writing, emails, watching a virtual conference)

“The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size.”

― Albert Einstein

1:00 PM: Took the doggies outside to pee and picked up sticks in the yard with the kiddies (my daughter found a mushroom)

2:00 PM: Played with my kiddies (yoga, colors, numbers, peek-a-boo)

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

― Hippocrates

4:30 PM: Dinner (smoky portobello tacos with jalapeño cashew sauce and Spanish rice from our Purple Carrot box)

5:00 PM: Walked around our neighborhood with my hubby, infant, toddler and two dogs

“Dance like nobody’s dancing; love like you’ve never been hurt. Sing like nobody’s listening; live like it’s heaven on earth.”

― Mark Twain

5:30 PM: Naked dance party with the kids (to the tunes of Black Eyed Peas and Daft Punk)

6:30 PM: Showered and brushed teeth (with my all natural DIY toiletry products), put kids in PJs, read books (Goodnight Moon, of course!)

7:00 PM: In bed with snacks (popcorn and grapes), cuddled with my daughter and read a new book (“This is Your Brain on Birth Control” by Sarah E. Hill, PhD)

8:00 PM: Lights out, sleepy time!

So, there you have it! An average day in the life of a holistic psychiatrist (who is married with two young kids and two dogs, works from home, runs a business, and does a lot of yoga!!)
